Mixing Styles: What's Your Opinion?

Hi there!
First post!
I'm having my coming out to dance at my university's pow wow and I am working on my regalia. Because of my age (late 30's), I am doing women's traditional.
Here's my dilemma: I am Nii'mii'pu (Nez Perce) and EBCI. Those styles are VERY different.
Is it okay to mix elements of your very different tribal styles to reflect who you are? Or should I stick to one? I have lived most of my life in the NW, so I am leaning towards a more NP look, but I feel like I want to honor my EBCI ancestors as well.
Help?
