Bezel - Ringkasten. The thin metal strip used to hold a cabochon in a setting.

If you don't like over 27C, you'd better schedule your visit to Texas during the 3 days of spring we usually between winter and summer. Summers here in DFW are in the lower to mid 30C range. We usually have a day or two over 40C.

Now, my Aunt lives in AZ. They get hot.

I live in the sweet tea belt. it is ubiquitous. I like iced tea, but not the sweet stuff. A real treat in summer weather is watermelon aqua fresca or horchata

Watermelon Aqua Fresca

Puree (in two batches):

3 lbs seedless watermelon, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 Tbsp lime juice
1 c cold water

Strain and discard solids. Add:

1-2 tsp honey

Chill, tightly covered, for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice. This is best within a couple of hours of prep.

Horchata:

In a blender, roughly grind:

2/3 c blanched almonds
2/3 c uncooked long-grain white rice
2 cinnamon sticks
2 c water

Add 2 more c water and blend until the rice, almonds and cinnamon are coarsely ground.

Let this mixture sit in a cool area overnight. Strain and discard solids. Mix with:

1 1/2 c milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 - 1/2 c sugar, to taste

Serve over ice.

Now you're already for those hot summer days.
