Fancy Star...hate to say it but you are getting awfully defensive about this. Just because your opinion is to have your hair braided all the time...does not make your opinion right to all tribes. You have to look at it from that perspective. Not having your hair done is not a sign of disrespect, nor a sign of laziness. Many people do not dance for the " show" aspect of it, but for the love of their heritage. You're right about some of these dances here in Oklahoma. but not all of them are like that. Anyone can look nice either way....hair does not have to be braided to win...Not all people powwow just to show how good they look, how pretty their clothes are. or how tight their hair is braided. Don't get upset, but you really should open up your mind. Just because you believe one way, doesn't mean that you're right. That's something that you need to keep in mind.
