Reason you do not see them much is they take a time to make right....and the otter is a pricey pelt, but made mine from a second hand shop large womens stolle and it turned out good with the brass and steel thimbles plus mirrors and ribbonwork.
They take time and most people do not want to do them. Breastplates are faster.
