K-mom, I heard a lot of good comments from people in the audience. A lot know what kind of people it takes to organize a powwow and the kind of headstaff personnel to make it run smoothly! The dancers and singers that showed up prove that you and your committee have what it takes to make the best of your limited resources and deliver a superb presentation for all the visitors, participants and spectators.

As you are aware, I put more than half of my fees back into the equipment I use. In essence, these are your equipment and all I'm doing is taking care of them. I mentioned to several people that I plan to take a year off in 2007 for personal reasons, but be assured that I will support you again if you and Cletis are asked to organize the powwow.

Sorry you couldn't make it this year, bro! The boyz were doing their best Saturday and Sunday although most drum groups barely got to sing more than once a session.

There's always Red Mountain Eagle and Orme Dam Victory Days which are coming up in a few weeks.

It sounds like you are planning to re-enlist.

This is why I camp out Friday night at the powwow grounds. You barely get to sleep a few hours before having to make it back the next morning if you stay elsewhere. There are showers available the next morning so you basically rough it for one night. Years ago, I got to stay at Days Inn which is less than two miles away west of the fair grounds, but they charge for an arm and both legs these days.

Few people realize it, but taking care of the sound system means being one of the first people onsite every morning and being the last one to leave at night. Having a good assistant and other volunteers go a long way to make it easier during the day and evening sessions.

Come down to the Phoenix metropolitan area in November for the 20th Annual Red Mountain Eagle Powwow and the 25th Anniversary Orme Dam Victory Days Celebration Powwow. The 2nd Annual Gilbert Powwow is in January followed by the 21st Annual ASU Spring Competition Powwow in April a week before GON.

I always appreciate the food and drinks that people offer to me. I got invitations to breakfast at two camps all weekend, a full mutton roast dinner Saturday evening, and a birthday cake on Sunday!

Like you say, I try to make each gig better than the last one. What makes it fun is the support and encouragement from everyone involved. This includes the committee, the MCs, the Host Drums, visiting drums, dancers, and most importantly, that one person that is in the audience who put everything aside and came to the powwow to see all the activities and hear the sounds of the drum groups that have traveled a long ways to be there. If I can satisfy that one person, then I've fulfilled my obligations and commitments to the powwow committee.

Even a glonie saying "shhhh" to someone else would satisfy you, eh? :shades_sm

I got a shrink-wrapped CD from Walking Buffalo ... but when I opened it Monday morning, I found no CD in the jewel case! Did anyone else have any problems like this?

I tried to access the website on the inserts, but they are still under construction. So far, I have received no reply from the email I sent to the email address listed on the inserts. I still have to call the number listed, but I doubt anyone will return my calls.
