This powwow is always a nice one to check out. Safe Travels to everyone. Might be cold in Flagstaff, so bring a coat.

Just got back from Flagstaff, I have to say the students who ran this powwow worked their butts off this weekend!!! GOOD JOB!!! The schedule was tight and things didn't work out perfectly, but the committee really worked hard to accomodate everybody and stay on top of things. It's so nice to see High school students working together at an event like this.

Winners? UMMM, I left during the winners so i only heard the drum contest-Red Horse got 1st and Blu Thunder was in there somewhere and i think Rocky Park got 4th. EEEKKK, that's not much help is it??? LOL.

Drums there were :

NH - Cree Society
Native Boys
2nd - Eagle Creek
Buck Wild
4th - Rocky Park
Standing Horse
Rocky Boy Ramblers
Black Creek
Southern Soul
3rd - Blu Thunder
1st - Red Horse
SH - Desert Rumble

Sun Bear and Battle Valley were also there, but they never really got around to them, packed up early I think.....anyway, dance contest were back to back which was cool, because it kept the powwow going but the school had time restrictions so that really tightened the schedule a lot....it was also hot inside, no way to cool down except to go outside and then come back in to warm up....*L*....anyway, my only gripe was they didn't have the tiny tots till close to 1030pm....other than that, the committee did do their best....

After having gone to this powwow last year, the committee really stepped up their game. Man, the drums were ALL jammin, pulling out some old tunes, and keeping the dancers hoppin. It was kewl as my lil one sang with Cree S. all weekend, they are a great group of guys....haha, well only 2 members were there, da rest were all 'Ho's....LOL. Navajoe's... including mah lil one. Nice to see the guys again. Nice to see ya too Native Nation, can't wait til Page. As for winner lists...I dunno the complete lists as I was toooooooo tired to listen. ayeeeee. I know Tradish mom's kid placed and my lil one took 2nd. Oh and our friend pretty boy Edd Scott took the Men's Grass, 2nd was Lee Jack Jr., and Andrew Windyboy Jr took 3rd. Ummmm A. Windyboy Sr I think took 1st in Golden Oldies cat...I think. The Headman's special Lee Jack Jr took that one.....oh that was really kewl. All the songs were rockin, those guys sure sweated out that one.

The only thing negative I saw was that somehow the commitee appointed some members to deny dancers from entering the floor during a intertribal, I think they were trying to do a spot check or something. The poor kid that they had assigned to do this was getting reamed by dancers, especially a certain elder. I dunno, he was doing what he was told to do, but the committee should have handled it in a different way. Plus the funny thing was the MC was telling all the dancers to dance but no one could enter the arena...it was strange. After that, it didn't happen again.

In all, we had a good weekend. I want to go to AVI but, have to save $$ for Cali next month and Denver March. Phew......well hope to see ya all on da road....

Nezzy
