I think they should have it the same time as gathering and not compete with the smaller, more traditionally intact pow wows like ASU and black eagle....i think they should take gathering on. with age group splits and good dance money, they will do even better next year.
They need a drum contest....but the staff was good and the mc's were funny.
the tabulating thing got kinda boring but thats a glich that can be worked out. we shoulda competed friday night instead of two rounds on saturday. . .and yeah, grand entry was long but its their pow wow, so you go with the flow.
i like the idea of competing with gathering, especially if your tired of all the gathering hoopla

As far as the Emcee, Jason G., making the comment: "I hear some dancers have been complaining. If ya don't like it, then stay home!"

If I was there I'd go right there up on him, and say: "Well why don't you say it to MY face!!! Tell ME to stay home!!! Hunh boy!! Tell ME to stay home!!!"

Shewt. I'd back it up with a rap in the mouth if I needed to.

But that's just me. I've decided to quit being so nice all the time....ya only live once, and my time may be getting short ya know?

You mustve been sitting somewhere where the sound was REALLY good, LOL!! I kind of question the attitude of the MC's and I think there were too many of them!! 3 MC"s? On Friday night Ruben said If any of the MC's say anything offensive to any of you, please feel free to come up here and let us know-someone sitting near me said, Well i think that HAT is really offensive!! Does that count? LOL.

I TOTALLY agree with you about the You only live once thing, life is too short to agree with everyone all the time!!! And it would be awesome to schedule this pow wow the same time as Gathering.

There was definitely alot of unused space in the building.I was told that they didn't locate vendors on the stadium floor because supposedly only dancers and singers were supposed to be on the stadium floor-not spectators, which is where that crazy wristband and yellow ESCORT card were brought into play, however there wasn't anyone checking wristbands or yellow cards so anyone could be down on the dance floor-which is how it should have been. It was really a hike to get to the food vendors and the regular vendors.

And there was some kind of agreement made within the stadium contract where Dancers were only allowed to use that far door at the end of the Red zone and not the regular entrance doors-i didn't talk to any dancers though to see if they had problems getting in any of the doors. Oh and thankfully NO ONE was checking bags because we managed to bring in soda and food. there were large Water containers outside on the plaza area with little cups for water, it wouldve been great to put one of those on the stadium floor or in the dancers lounge too.

Correct me if I'm wrong. (somebody will) lol. But I thought I heard that next year's p-dub is in July.
On-line registration glitch was a downer. Other than that, enjoyed this more than times I went to GON.
Many thanks to all the sponsors for making the event more affordable. My only regret was not having to speak with Cardinal Prez about signing Q for afew more years.
Be safe out there folks....

There was a big banner hanging in one corner that said Next year's powwow dates are April 16-18 2010. I like the idea of having it the same time as the Basketball tournament, however it's SO HOT here then and there's good pow wowing going on the in the cooler north country, it might not attract the same crowd.

Gee Jed, that's mighty nice of ya, but you're a couple days and a couple of pages late-i posted most of them on sunday night, and the NABI people posted them on their website yesterday-which is where that list is from, maybe a link to their website next time to save space? Although it is nice to see that they can't spell some names much better than i could and having the categories i missed is good too. (Poor BERRY Brown!!!)

I'm hearing from two dancers that they went to the tabulation people after the powwow Sunday night and were told they were disqualified from the contest because their registration forms didn't have CIB numbers on them-and one of the dancers wouldve placed, but had no idea she was disqualified. The other dancer had his CIB number but didn't put it on the form because the rules only said if a dancer won money would they need to produce their tribal ID/CIB. Both dancers are really NOT happy about this.

The dancers should've just scribbled "666" on the forms...kinda the same thing.
