It was big news spread through Powwows.com FB pages.
I read the comments last night and reported all of the racists comments to be sent to the moderator as per their policy. The comment section was also closed to new comments. I believe what they are getting at with GON not being at The Pit anymore is logistics. GON also should be held at a place that can handle more people. I remember a few years ago the fire marshal said that they exceeded the maximum safe capacity of the arena. This year there were some 2,600+ dancers plus all of the spectators. windanncer and Itzhecatl like this.

I just found out about it right now, right now, on Powwows.com! Was even talking to my son this morning about putting GON on our bucket list for next year.

Those comments are terrible! Those people should be ashamed... I hope the powwow finds a better spot in any case. I guess outgrowing a venue is good in a way, if more people are involved and interested.

So I saw a couple folks who commented on ICTMN that they thought GON should move up to Denver & be combined with Denver March. I was wondering what people here think of that idea???

The TINGLEY COLISEUM is pretty close to the Pit in ABQ, but seats 11,500

They've had problems with the fire marshalls for a good decade.
Tingley is smaller than the Pit. The Pit seats roughly 13,000. Tingley about 9,000 without seats on the floor. I believe the Pit is the largest indoor arena in northren NM. windanncer and Itzhecatl like this.

The seating capacity for the GON venue, Wise Pies Arena "The Pit," is 15,411. The seating for the Tingley Colliseum is 11,571. The seating for the Denver Colliseum is 10,200. I do believe the person who runs GON dissed the Tingley Colliseum at one time and experimented with an event similar to the GON in Chicago.
