Here's how to help tribes affected in Hurricane Katrina.

Dear Friends and Family,

I'm currently the Director of Development for the
National Congress of American Indians (NCAI). NCAI is
the oldest and largest Indian organization in the U.S.
and we represent more than half of the country's
American Indian tribes.

Immediately after we received word of the Hurricane
Katrina disaster, NCAI created a fund to help the
Indian tribes in Louisianna, Mississippi and Alabama
who were affected. Let me tell you that American
Indian
tribes are consistently overlooked and always the last
to receive any assistance, if any. On Friday, we
talked with a representative from one Indian tribe who
said the homes and land every tribal member in their
community was completely demolished, it was very sad.

The money from the NCAI Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund
will go directly back to those tribes affected so that
they may rebuild their communities. If you or your
family is interested please make a donation, the
information is below.

May you always walk in beauty and may the creator
bless you.

Sincerely,

Mellor C. Willie
Director of Development
National Congress of American Indians

Much prayers...

It's horrifying seeing the tremendous damage from the paper and news. I can't imagine there pain, many prayers for the tribes and their family in that part of the country.

hurricane relief

The Chickasaw Nation has opened up a hotel for the victums of the hurricane Rita, they are transporting by their bus and feeding alot of the Alabama Cousatta victims, on their own time and money, I have received many calls from the victums and they are so grateful that the Chickasaw nation are so generious, as the ones left behind are stuck in a Gym with no air conditioner and water, they wish all of the other victums could have made it out with them, as it is still over a 100 degrees in Livingston, Texas. Thank you Chickasaw Nation.

YEs Very much appreciate the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma for taking in some of the evacuees of Hurricane Rita. They were alot of people who did stay back and rode out the storm inside the Huge Multi-Purpose Center on the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation. Yes the temp was High 90s and even 100's the first week after the storm came through. Thank you all for thinking of us and also the tribes who have helped the Alabama-Coushatta tribe of Texas for Hurricane Rita.

May we all continue to Pray for those still affected from Katrina as well...Alot of Houma's who are not still being helped this very moment from the Red Cross or Fema.

Thumbs up Washington State people are lending a helping hand!

A few of the Wapato Irrigation workers headed over there and my husband will be joing them in the next crew headed to New Orleans to help where they can, my husband has his CDL and what not so I imagine he'll help with the clean up? Prayers are with all the disaster struck people that way, that they find shelter, something to eat, good water to drink, somewhere to sleep and have the necessities that they need, especially for the kids.
