WHAT THE DUECE!

Well lemme tell you.........Keveon Kingbird, a loooooooong, looooong time ago used to dance on this place we call mother earth. and when he used to dance he would bring alllllllll of the spirits into the arena with him. winds from all directions, bright sun, clouds, rain, thunder, and Lightning. but somehow it was still agood gathering. everyone who liked hot weather got hot weather, those who liked the rain got the rain and so on and so forth. He danced with grass dance pants, fancy bustle on top, tradish bustle down below, his roach had antennas, rockers, pheasant feathers, black tips, and multi colored plumes. He brought the whole package. I remember on year in particular when keveon ran for Red Lake Brave, He blew away the comp. Of course he was carrying on the Kingbird legacy of Bravedom, Mac was brave as was Kevin @ one time. They held the Brave position each for 5 years at a time. Which brings me to The third place in Mens Tradish. He was told by an elder that he was to pick one style of dance and to stay with that. He tried then all at different gatherings and felt his heart was at peace when he was dancing tradish. There fore he chose to dance this style. He would sometimes be seen, Inger, White Earth, Ball Club, dancing to his hearts content. none the less, He fellupon Hard Timez, and hung up his rig. He began to turn his love to singing and never looked back.......until......San Manuel. Will we ever see him dance again, bring all of those spirits for all to witness? I dont think so. In closing when you pass this story on to your children, tell it as it was told. Do not let this be the last....................

Dang guy!! That's hilarious! Kevin, Keveon, Mack, Kendall, and even Jason KB were all champ dancers way back when they were teens. As well as Dino Downwind, Frank Graves, and Frank Defoe. 5 Years at a time, AYYEE????!! I'm going to have to pull out the old pics of these guys and post them on here.

Yeah, I think you will find that some of the top dancers in the Northern categories didn't make it either. I'm sure gas prices and hotel costs had a lot to do with people staying close to home.

Friday night all the adults contested. When they called out all the Men's Northern Original only 2 guys came out. J.R. LaPlant and the 2nd place guy. So Saturday when they called out all the Men's Northern Origianal there were 10 more dancers. LOL

Good powwow! No dust! Wahoo!

Perfect Storm was rockin!

Keveon also danced and won at the A.I.M. Powwow in 1991 that was held at Cockroach Park in south Mpls. I think he dances better than he sings. (Probably, because he doesn't use when he dances). Watch out Fiddler!!.
