Lightbulb I'm just looking 4 a Fight...Errrr!

The writing is on the proverbial wall....Physics.....usually is responsible for that.....When you feed a Skin Steak, then taper it to a Burger, well certainly folks are going to bat an eyelash or two.....I've just been taught to APPRECIATE the "Burger".

I have several fond memories of "Schematic" errrr Schemitzun.......I am grateful to have had an oppurtunity to work with good people....Of course there's a Smuck in every bunch, but why let that ruin the overall good? I'm learning to point out the good in a situation, no matter how rugged it is.....All and all Schemitzun has always been "Just another Powwow" So don't believe tha Hype.....

[SIZE=2]I remember the good old days when the committee would actually give the drum groups 1500 travel and rooms payed up front, also give you another 1500 for traveling home. So it didn't matter if you placed or not. We all (drums) had a great time then; nobody cared if they were going to win or not as long as you made it down there!! I think when certain people made in the tribe and took over then thats when the powwow went down. undefined

They fed me good. Each day.

Discount hotel rooms.

Had some good laughs.

Had some good visits.

Saw some relatives really jammin'. (for the first time)

Saw the azz-end of a fight.

It was a typical enjoyable time I had. It was a powwow. A bit smaller than other years, but.... the size doesn't matter much. It's the good people you meet, the friends you hang with. A powwow is as good as what you make it.

Just have fun. If you're not going to have fun............ stay home.

Coyote hit the nail on the head and you all can't take it. The negative stories, griping for more money, its pitiful. Every pow wow gets better and better and then goes down a little, you know, in cycles. People get elected to council, get new jobs, the crowd changes.

People at the pow wow make it great, so if everyone goes to it, regardless of the money, then it'll be great again. Hotels are cheaper after Labor Day, that's one thing I would suggest.

I still thank the Wayne Reels and the Pequots for providing all that great prize money back in the day and today. And for giving not only the money, but their hospitality and friendship.

Regardless of the money? didn't you hear that gas prices skyrocketed? it's impossible to not travel regardless of money!! Gas prices alone will burn a huge hole in pocket! That would be good if we all could use "I.O.U's" and pay for gas so later when gas prices fall back down (NOT!) we could pay it off.

I agree with YOT. Goot words. I had fun, I dont care if a powwow has gotten smaller as long as I enjoyed myself and sang hard. plus less dancers means more chances for some other people to place in the contest. so It can be the more the merrier or less is more. Or is the glass half empry or half full? LOL However you wanna take it.............

There are two sides to a coin and that goes for this thread too. Schemitzun set a standard, they outdid everybody back in the beginning. Not just the prize money, but the hospitality...they fed everybody, they took care of their singers, they gave the singers a chance to make as much with thier talent as the dancers do. That does not happen at regular pow wows. They pretty much spoiled us, so I agree with Coyote on that count. They made it a big pow wow by how they treated the visitors and mainly the singers. I am married to a singer so I know how they can sing all three days and maybe win a contest and not make 1/4 of last place dancing money. You can say sing for the joy of singing, which all singers do.....but to make a decent payout makes it alot easier on your traveling expenses. And face it, in competition pow wows, the more people there the more exciting it is whether its dancers or singers. I like to see the best against the best and watch them pick up their level of dancing or singing by who they are competing against. I remember being there a few years back when Yellowhammer dominated, it was intense but it was fun because all the drums were there and everyone was putting out good music from the first day. Atmosphere, I guess it was I am saying is missing now.LOL
