Drum turn offs

Lots of good drums have come and gone. Lots of you are singers who have sung with different drum groups.

What are some of the main reasons why you won't sing with a certain drum anymore???

I've heard a lot of chorus girls/back up singers/wicaglatas say, "I will NEVER sing with so-n-so again!"

In fact, I just heard it again this past weekend!

Man...there is soooo many reasons to this...

I havent "REALLY" sang in about almost 13yrs. Things just happen, for example..

Money is the root of all evil, majority of the time its about money, someone getting jipped and thinking they should have gotten more, sometimes the drum keeper or the "core" group get waaaaay more than others and give the other singers "scrub" cut. It happens

Sometimes on the road, specially when singers on on the road ALL summer, it can become a test of nerves traveling with the same folks ALL summer. It happens. Sometimes some dudes will mess up and do something stupid like drink, party ect, and jepordize the drum, specially a competition powwow, stumbling into drum roll call half snapped or hung over.

sometimes it could be as easy as someone messing up a song, messing up a lead, messing up a check beat, and we all know, YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT IT if you messed up. Some folks take it the wrong way and it leads to friction.

Some guys at the drum are also SOOOO ego-tistical, that if that drum dont place 1st or something, They gotta blame others at the drum for not placing..ex. "you didnt do that lead right, thats why we lost!" kinda additude. Or the person or persons at the drum are just plain azzholes.

Some veteran (original members of the drum group) also get into arguements over which song should be sang, wanting to have more input with the group and some guys are just stubburn. " I made this song, so were gonna sing it" "I like this song better, if you dont like it, leave". That happens ALOT.

I see ALOT of drum groups getting formed as an "off branch" of other drums just cuz they dont get along anymore. Some will start other groups JUST so they can beat the other group...its sad, but true. And believe me, there is some serious DRUM WARS between certain drums, even to this day.
Others start new groups because they move away, have families and teach there sons or daughters how to sing and recruit new singers.

All in all, there is alot of factors that play its part as to why drums split up.

Oh here's another one...

The drum got along good, then the wife or girlfriend (or both of them at the same time ) got involved!

Oh yeah!!! I seen that a few times...

Also some groups break apart because they get J-O-B's, or if they dont break apart, they usually stay local or sing not as much as they would normally.

The groups who maintain a "core" 4-5 main guys, for a long period of time, are the ones who usually last. EVERY drum goes through its phazes where they are RED HOT, then some singers move on, get new recruits, dont sound as hot, a couple years later, they're good again. Some are RED HOT off the hop, then lose steam when some of those singers move on...they might still exist, but they arent as good as they once were.

Not all drums groups get in fights. Some are trained by "the pro's" on the powwow trail, then the trainees start their own when they get themselves their own drum. You will see some drums at powwows reunite once in a while with the "old crew" when they're not getting judged. There is alot of "off branch" groups out there that originated or were taught by other groups at one time.
