Can anyone direct me on help to trace my "native american" family? I live in California and would appreciate type of help on who can help me figure out to which tribe my family belongs to.

It's much the same process as any other genealogy. Look at birth/death and census records, read family letters etc looking for references to the tribe, talk to older relatives who might know. But to find out if a particular ancestor is enrolled, you'll need to know what tribe. Then you'll have to check tribal rolls.
