I guess it depends where you are located. There are a few mail order places on the net that mail within the US and Canada.

I've found Halford's of Edmonton pretty good for supplies and their prices are good. They stock large and child size cones as well as the lids to roll your own. Mind you that's in Canada.

I've seen cones made from tin can lids and roofing flashing - I guess it depends on the sound you are going after. I've seen beautiful dresses that make a dull thud sound when they move and seen plain dresses that make a pleasant sound because of the style and size and placement of the cone used.

I only buy rolled lids anymore. There's a place called R & V Jingles back east that sells rolled cones VERY reasonably. I can't find their info online, but it is posted here in one of these threads somewhere.

K - Here's the thread
http://www.powwows.com/gathering/showthread.php?t=45559

Since it's kinda confusing, here's the website:
http://www.jinglecones.com/R%26V_Jin...gle_Cones.html

Well....they're not able to take orders at this time...not sure why that is...hmmm....glad I ordered 1500 on my last order. For reference I got 1000 for $154 and 500 small cones for $77.

I deal with both on a regular basis! The catalogues are better at John bead, even good pdf file versions.

John Bead is ok, but my only complaint is that so much of their mail order stuff is always back ordered and it takes months to get your full order. They also will not refund your money for back ordered items without a huge todo.

JB requires orders to be over 100.00 if you are not a business client.

Roof Flashing? Never heard of that, wondering about that

I have bought jingles both flat and rolled and have made my own also. Naturally, you will pay more for ones already rolled.

Roof flashing is really just a big roll of sheet aluminum. For about $10-15 you can get 500 or more jingles out of one roll if you are willing to cut each one out and roll it. Aluminum cones have a lighter more musical sound than tin. They are also not so heavy so you can load up a dress with a lot of them. Any home improvement store will sell roof flashing. Comes in various widths and lengths. You will need tin snips to cut it and leather gloves to protect your hands. Also, a jingle rolling tool or needle nose pliers for rolling.

I forgot to add that if you get flat jingle lids, you usually have to cut off the rim or lip around the edge before rolling. Some people also cut off a sliver from one side of the circle so that the jingle will have a bit less weight. This cut edge is rolled to the inside so it does not show.

I usually order my lids or pre-rolled cones from Noc Bay. They have pretty reasonable prices. When I order lids I get the ones that are all ready trimmed. It makes it easier. It also depends on what brand you prefer. I know Noc Bay sells McPherson's and they make a nice sound when you get them on a dress. Each brand makes a different sound because each brand is rolled or rolls differently so it just kinda depends on what you are looking for.

After researching, I finally ordered Premium cones from Noc Bay. The lady was prompt and I received my order ASAP. R&V only had gold ones at this time. However the man was courteous and prompt in his response. Personally I love when someone rolls their own. I am away from family and not confident of my own attempts in helping my daughter accomplish this. I feel blessed to have visioned a dress for her. However she is doing her prayers and journeling. This will be an awesome year for her.
