It was hot Thursday but, after that I thought it was pretty good.
The singing was tremendous!
It was the kind of singing that made you want to dance.

The singing did make you want to dance, but it was too crowded.

Another thing is, I can't enjoy myself if every other person around me dancing is off beat!!! LOL!

I usually have to miss the other two but this year I think I will get to be back to Pawhuska. Hope to see you all there. AND maybe I can stay in step.

Gledanh,

I always wondered what members of the Grayhorse district and Osage's in general thought of a non Osage taking on the district's name and competing?

Anyone?

Herb, is the Head Singer for the Grayhorse District. And as some of you may or may not know, has been singing at these traditional Osage dances since the early "80,s" as have the majority of this awesome singing crew.

Herb was one of the singers back when Morris Lookout had control of the singing at all three districts. Herb is very knowledgable of the songs and the order of the songs to be sung.

Don't forget, Jimmy Kemble ("The Man") of the Ponca Tribe is a part of this dynamic singing team. As well as the Satepauhoodle sisters.

So yeah, there was alot attention centered on the drum at Grayhorse.

It was keen. When you have a Pawnee head singer, you are gonna get some Pawnee songs in the mix. The drum flat JAMMED. The lady singers were awesome. It was a memorable dance with well over 250 dancers in the arena on Saturday night. The committee did an excellent job.

I once again missed the whole deal out there. But I know this, the Pawnees like thw Osage have thease war dances, and most of the songs are similar. And I am sure Herb and family did a awsome job.
