Thanks an easy one.....

It happened when straight dancers began going retro by not wearing underwear!

I never heerd-tell of a shirt bottom hem being worn a couple of inches below the belt line. I have a photo of Gray Horse, 1947, and the shirts are worn as they are now. Another photo from the 1940's shows Newman Little Walker, Ponca, with a regular length shirt. In the early 1900's, lots of Poncas tucked their shirt inside of the belt in order to show off their floral beaded britch cloths.

In my opinion, ribbonshirt length is dictated more by person preference than anything else.

I personally like mine longer, but I'm 6'3" at over 260. I need a little room to make my moves, if I still have any left. I like mine a little longer than my fingertips. Some of my shirts almost come down to the end of my aprons.

I agree about the preference. I have noticed in my short time that shirt lengths have risen then came back down. I have also, noticed that many are wearing their vest without shirts more often. I still wear my shirt with my vest but that is just me.
