Any way, while cleaning out a box lately, I found a skull. It was one a friend of mine gave me. I don't remember what kind of skull it is (and no, it's not a European skull), but it's from a small animal. There is the main part of the skull and some big, open holes on the sides (too big to be regular eye sockets). the bone around the outer edge of the holes is not really heavy, but maybe medium thickness. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it. I was thinking that I might be able to try to bead this one. Can you identify this skull? And NO funny business here. I'm being serious.

Not without a pic, measurements, and a description of the teeth.

BTW: Here's a pic of a European mounted deer

Beaded Buffalo Skulls

See this website for beaded buffalo skulls; http://ostyn-newman.com/March_Sculpture_2.html
It looks like the beads are just glued onto the skull.

The beads are mostly inlaid in wax. Skulls beaded that way are pretty amazing & often very detailed. I saw one with a village scene on it. Unfortunately, I didn't save the picture.

Aw...you were kidding??!!?? I wanna see a pic of that skull, or describe the teeth anyway, and measure it and I bet we can figure out what it is.

I wish I had a picture of the buffalo skull I found in the mountains - it had yellow and orange lichens growing in the middle of the flat part of the skull - naturally decorated, and very cool!!

I'd like to, but I am a technological dinosaur person. I haven't
moved on to the digital age yet, but maybe if I get a certain request for a Christmas present, I'll be able to post pictures. (Unless I can get my dad to take a picture of it for me, but that won't happen until I return North in a couple of weeks.)

I was looking at skulls today at a local heritage festival. Unfortunately, I couldn't talk the exhibitor out of one of his deer skulls. the looked exactly like the ceramic skull on a lamp at Hobby Lobby.

I saw a ceramic skull with just a single hole out the back. I don't know if it would be good for hanging or not.

BUT... I think if you cut bead a front piece to be tied it around the horns, like most of the beaded pieces seem to be attached, you could make a hanger that ties around the horns, then just tie the beaded piece around the horns and you wont' see the hanger.

thank you for your suggestions. That's the type of skull i bought at Hobby Lobby. Putting a hanger around the horns would be about the only way you could make it secure to hang.
