Your outline lines or your fill-in lines?

The only way I can get a straight single line of any longer length is to use the 2 needle applique method, and tacking down every 2 beads. With the "return" stitch, I can never get it to go perfectly straight.

For fill-in lines, here's a tutorial from another website with good pics.
http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/rep...6#.UCwu9KDlfTo

Just remember to not crowd your beads - give them wiggle room, and tack them securely while holding them in perfect alignment. Remember that each tack stitch will take up some room, as well, and plan ahead accordingly.

And bead, bead, BEAD!!!

My outline lines. I put down my outline and then do the fill in lines, but maybe I'm putting too many beads to fill cuz my outlines end up crooked. I caught myself pulling the thread too tight too.. Tension.. I gotta stop thinking about stuff when I bead.. LOL

Yeah, if you're outline lines are straight to begin with, don't let the fill-in lines push them out of whack.

You can bust a bead off the thread if there are too many, using needle nose pliers and just snipping the edge of it.

Good luck!

crooked lines fixer:when you are drawing a line look to where you desire your pen(pencil) to go,not where it is,this maybe will help.

The drawing part I have no problems. But when I tack the beads down they seem to start moving outside the line on their own.

Perhaps you could run the line through a bead as like a loop so it can still have some freedom to move, yet will leave the line bottom open for more adding?

I'll have to try again... And if I'm still not getting it, maybe take it to my mother in law and ask for her help. Right now I'm finishing peyote stitch earrings and after that, my hubby wants me to start another project. Leggings I think. lol

LOL.. loom might have to do til I get my embroidery skills up.. BUT if I don't practice... I'll always have crooked lines. Makes sence tho, I can't walk a straight line either. Too easily distracted..

How are you beading your lines? 2 needles with tacking every 2 beads?

Looming is good for some things, but not leggings.

my question was actually for a rosette I was working on. Crow way has a lot of lines and I couldn't get them straight. Just gave up on it for now. I was using one needle and tacking every 2 beads but think the problem was that I was over filling and the fill beads were moving the lines.

Yeah right, TB! All your beadwork is probably loomed...from Taiwan! JKS

Hmmm....so Ketza...you're making rosettes...are you meaning your lines in your design are off?

To keep the lines in your designs on a rosette straight (and I'm hoping you're beading from the inside - out) there are two things you can do:

1. is to have reference lines on the paper (or whatever) you're beading on. What I do is fold the paper that I'm using for the top of my beading material in half, then in half again (and sometimes fold those halves in half - depending on the design)...then you have some reference lines for keeping your design in line.

You might have to cull your beads and use a thick bead to make your line go over more, or a thinner one to keep the line from going too far.

2. You can count beads. This works great on sunburst type designs, or diagonals, or the feather type designs that radiate out from the center.

But either way it takes PRACTICE, and stopping and looking at the overall design and see if you need to adjust or (heaven forbid) ripping some beads out, or some rows, or starting over....

Something similar to this. I made my own design but this one has the triangles I wanted to put in the center.

Try doing only one bead at a time, leave wiggle room, and don't pull the thread too tight. Like Rose mentioned, culling is also helpful.
