Also try using two needles and a different strand of thread. I found that using just one needle and the same thread tends to get pulled tight as you go along and sometimes it pulls the beads out of line. The second thread/needle can be managed better in the tension area. (also really helps if you have to undo a line... nothing worse than picking apart both the bead thread and anchor thread when it's the same thread).

Here are a couple of my tips:

1) For straight lines, I lay down a piece of masking tape and bead right alongside it. Remove the tape when your line is complete.

2) Use the 2-needle applique method, as mentioned above. The one needle method is nearly impossible to do in a straight line.

3) If you have enough hole space left in your beads after you hsve finished your line of beading, run your thread through the entire line of beads again. This often straightens out any little wobbles.

Those are some GOOD TIPS!!

And a beautiful pic!! It's hard to tell from the picture though, are your diagonal lines part of the circles of beads, or beaded first, then the rest filled in with the circular rows of beads?

I suggest beading them first, and DO NOT let your fill in rows crowd those lines! But if they are part of the circle, make your lines 2 beads wide and draw a wide line to follow, and do EVERYTHING possible to make them stay straight....using skinny beads/fat beads, tacking between certain beads to move them one way or another.

And we would all LOVE to see a pic of yours when you're done.

Good luck!!

One needle is for beads, the other is for tacking those beads down. Its known as, "couching" technique.

My lines are decently straight, but I know they can be improved by a better method.

VERY pretty! Luv those colors.

Your inside lines look great! And I like the way you finished the ends.

I only see a little wave in the outside couple rows. Might need to tack every 2 beads on those outer rows.

Practice makes perfect!
