The bow with the sinew backing has dried now for several month. In mid May at the second workshop the bow shall be finished.

Bow building in the workshop at that location is good for slowing down, working with your hands and finding inner peace and enjoying doing a craft which although not as easy as it looks, gives you a good feeling.

The tree has been cut and giving his life to become a bow. I have made several selfbows. All were made to be used for what they are made. They have all nearly the same draw weight within 2 pounds. The tiller of every bow is as close to each other as was possible.

Yet every bow, due to the tree it comes from, in building and shooting, has it’s very own character. The character of the tree where every bow comes from is in the bow.

The character by a tree is always retained whatever you build from the wood, roof top, stairway, window frames, doors, chests, chairs, tables, cabinets and so on. I remember as a child watching and helping my father to build all those things. You have to read the wood. He is a Cabinet maker and Construction Carpenter.

He will have his unique character of his own.
