Question lining up rosette beads

Another question for all of you awesome beaders:

Aside from having very uniformly sized beads, what do you do to line up your designs in a rosette? I guess I'm thinking of the times when you have to make a choice between skipping a bead in a background part of the pattern or letting the pattern look 'off' by one bead. You can see what I mean if you look at the left-hand side of the rosette I posted yesterday. I couldn't get the single blue beads in 3 of the repetitions to line up perfectly and finally gave in and dropped a green background bead to 'catch up.' Is that ok, or should I be looking at some other way to solve this problem?

Thanks again - is it amazing to be able to ask all these questions . . .

I cull beads... It's almost nicer to use Un-uniform beads for round rosettes so you can fit that extra skinny bead in there if you need it. But also if you have very uniform beads, then y ou might want to draw your pattern to a size to fit the beads you are using... I've skipped beads before, I don't like my results when I do though.

I had actually been thinking about sorting beads into 'skinnys' and 'fats' given that my beads seem to be not so uniform even though they supposedly are. I do like that idea best, but I gave up and skipped one bead after I couldn't find one skinny enough for the job

I would say skipping a background bead is "perfectly" acceptable if you have more than just a few background beads.

Otherwise cull and use skinnies and fatties!

I'm glad that both things work . . . I have a feeling I'll be skipping the occassional bead AND looking for skinnies and fatties!
