Question Stick barrette / bun holder

Hi all! This is my first time posting, hopefully some of you experienced beaders can give me some tips.
I love beading barrettes, but I'd like to try the style with rosettes where there are two holes and a stick running through it instead of a clip.
I haven't been able to find any tutorials or instructions online so far.
The beading part I'm fine with, it's the structure I'm not sure about. Is there something in there in between the pellon and backing to keep its shape?
Any tips or ideas on where to look for instructions would be highly appreciated.
Chii miigwetch!

Lids from Cool Whip tubs, those big plastic tubs of ice cream, or such. Cut it slightly smaller than the barrette and make the holes slightly larger. Use Arlene's or similar flexible glue to glue it down. Whip stitch to your backing and edge bead over the seam.

Here's a link to pictures of a couple barrettes I made a few years ago:

Barrettes

No holes in this one. But it has similar shape and a butter tub lid inside.

I agree that plastic lids work well to stiffen stuff up I do that too.
