Yanno yer addicted when ....

According to tracking your bead order isn't due to arrive until tomorrow. But today, when you wake up, you KNOW that you aren't going in to work. You NEED that mental hygene day, you call in and make your excuses.

Then, along about the fourth cup of coffee, you hear the FedEx guy at the door.....

and you know you're addicted cuz at o'dark hundred when you decided to stay home you coulda swore you could feel those beads on the way to your door.

anyone know a good 12 step program?

~b2w
ok, ok so 7 pounds of beads -is- excessive... I'm an addict, I couldn't help myself!

You know you're addicted when there are beads every place you've been. I swear I shed them. I've found them in the holes on my laser table, under my UV-vis, in the office... (Color safety tip: never bead in Nd:YAG glasses. As you sow so shall you rip....) I live in mild fear that my guests are going to find them in their food some day, LOL.

I've had porky quills ride my clothes places as well. Once my grad school adviser sat down on a chair in the lab and then leapt back up. He had sat on a quill (honest, I've never quilled in the lab).

As for shipping, I always get mine shipped to work. Got to be able to fondle the beads as soons as they get are delivered. In fact I've had so many packages shipped to my work address, that Crazy Crow put the company on the mailing list, LOL.

Back when I was in grad school, I'd get stuff shipped to the chem. department receiving in the chemical stock room. If the company would fail to mark package personal, the shipping clerk would open it. I ordered rawhide and deer toes once. I got an agrieved call to: "come get your box of dead things -- now."

I'm too paranoid to have my beads or even my catalogs shipped to work... that plains potowatomi guy down on the third floor might get 'em by mistake...

going through bead withdrawls until this afternoon..

Haha that happens to me all the time! I have this big cushy chair I'll bead in sometimes, and I'll stick the needles in the armrests and forget about them, well they'll sink right in there, and when my hubby sits down and rests his arms he gets stuck lol. I did the same thing in the bedroom too, with the needle in the quilt, and on this chair at the foot of our bed, lol...

I thought this thread was about being addicted to beading...like you know you're addicted when, if you have to go to the bathroom, you'll hold it and hold it and hold it, because you just HAVE to get the end of that row done! lol

Every place I have lived has also been baptized with beads and an occasional needle. Well, the carpet cleaners need a little color in their lives too, hmmmm?

You know when you are addicted when you are only half way through a fully beaded dress yoke and you are already planning the next dress yoke. Somebody slap me please! LOL!

heehee... I get that project drift thing too.... find myself starting something new that I get to work on as a reward for doing so much on the other project(s).

Right now, I've got four things going (one - the beaded elements are half done, none of the garment is made, another - finished cutting and assembling one of a pair of mocs, no beading started but have printed the pattern out and so on)... and I know I'm addicted cuz I caught myself tonight googling fingerweaving patterns thinking.... yeah that would work with beads.

~b2w
if I didn't have at least three things going at once I'd never finish -anything-

You know you are an addict when you don't have any beads ordered and still think "beads are here" when you're at work and the Fedex guy comes in. When you see patterns in the lights of a bunch of semi trucks when you are going home from work at night. If you bead in bed and roll over on a bead in your sleep and can carefully put it on the nightstand so you can find it in the morning. I have done that a bunch of times. I'm too paranoid to loose needles. A friend of mine's niece swallowed one when she was little and nearly died, so if I lose a needle. all beading stops till it's found. YOu know you are an addict when you keep adding to your pattern collection, even though you know you probably won't live long enough to do the 5000 you aleady have!

You know you're addicted when you find this really cool pattern and you have to work at coming up with something to use it on.... and then find someone to give it to.

Normal people, I'm told, do it the other way 'round (Need something to give to someone so they look for a pattern).

You might be an addict if you have had the police question you about the kilos you were overheard ordering at work.

You might be an addict if "New Bead Day" is an official holiday for you.... every week.

You might be an addict if you try to describe things to your friends using the Crazy Crow color chart. "I want my steak with a good 158 Brown on the outside and a juicy 056 pink in the middle."

When I want to bead everything in sight. Most of my gifts for my family was beadwork. Wanting to get started on my next project, before the project I was working wasn't finished. Still to this day I don't think of myself as a experienced beader. I'm not! Also I have called in sick a few times to get my beadwork and regalia done. I Love it!!!
