Gosh, thinking about this one has really made me feel old.
I still think there are some from the "Old School" that still have yet to be topped.

Frank Roubideaux
Dick Little Wound
Bev Bailey (yep this is a female from way back along time ago. She kicked up some serious feather man)

these three could keep up with even the most tourtuous drum beat and not miss a lick.
Frank was doing spins and splits long before it was popular, then he still had energy to hoop dance.)

I don't even know if any of you are old enough to know who these three are. But ask Around to some of the old timers.
There has got to be someone who remembers them.

Dick Little Wound was from Rosebud

Frank is Otoe (the late Dick Roubideaux Sr.s son (at least one of them))

Bev I believe was Otoe also.

Tony Brown Rocks!!! Yep no doubt about it.
Is he still dancing?

Gosh I've been gone from home so long, I have no idea who is dancing what these days.

Oh well, time for some warm milk and a blanket for this old girl.

ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

5. George Alexander, he sure was an awesome show.
6. Joe Bointy, another class act, quite a legend.
7. The late James Meninick, he beat the best of the best on their turf. The orginator of the Russian kicks in fancy dancing.
8. Tony Brown, quite the crowd pleaser and showmanship!
9. Kenny Roan, undoubtedly the King of Cananda in his day.
10. Poncho Brady, one of the best ever to do it all.
11. Sam Merrick, another Dakota talent in his day.
12. Spike Draper, one of the best today.
13. Chico Her Mini Horses, a living legend.
14. The late Daryl Jack, undoubtedly a class act!
15. The late Tony Tallbird, a graceful but swift dancer.
16. Dwight WhiteBuffalo, when he is on, he is tough.
17. Phillip Kaiyou, the Shoshone Sensation, very quick.
18. Wilson Totus, a living legend who can still jam out.
19. R.G. Harris, one of the best from the south.
20. Ernie Sam, he was tough in his time.
21. The late Lamont Leonard from So. Cali, quite a show.
22. Boye Ladd, the grandfather of fancy.
23. Shawn Yazzie, he is a classic southern style dancer.
24. Jazz Bearstail, very tough, just like his dad.
25. Larry Yazzie, he is still going strong, way to go!!!

There it is...it will be hard to argue this list!!! This list considers dancing ability and skills. All of these dancers are my bros and I have been fancy dancing for 34 years and still enjoy jamming out to the drums and competition. I hope you all like my listing. I think it rocks!!!

Peace out

Rainbow Azure

Yup! that sums it all up!

I'm coming into this conversation about 5 years too late, but.. whatever.

Dude.. Woogie. haha. My daddy was good friends with him, and his wife. Woogie actually was responsible for teaching my dad how to dance, when he was a kid. He also knew Elmer and Jr. Brown and all of those old school guys. I remember Woogie from when I was a very little girl.. but, he was already pretty old then.

That man had it goin on, though. He didn't retire, from competition, until he was in his mid 60's. Nobody dances like those old guys did, anymore. It's all about the flash and the glitter.. but, rarely, is the talent there to back it up. Not like back then, anyway.

you got that right alice. Woodgie was Mike Pahsetopah's role model and was always right behind Woodgie as a tot learning his moves. Mike still knowsthose move but can't dance them at the dance arena because of the new fast drum music.

So..... my favorite is my husband Mike Pahsetopah
