feathers

I dance southern cloth and have always worn plumes. I was recently gifted two very nice dyed mature (legal)eagle center tail feathers (aka turkey) and wish to wear them. Do you wear the top of the feather towards the front or rear. there is a natural curve to the feather that suggest I wear the top of the feather toward my front.
thank you for any guidance

I wear my eagle feathers with the curve towards my head. The underside is facing out.

If your imitation feathers have too much of a cruve to them, you could always run them over a light bulb (heat) and straighten them out.

This link may help you identify some of the different feathers and will show you their natural shape.

you could

you could always wear plumes. there is one person on here that does some really awesome work for plumes that are legalized
walela49.there not by any means cheesy either. its up to you but she can also do side plumes with macaw. macaw is a nice legal feather but again check with yar tribe. not all tribes use macaw.if you go more east they use barred turkey.

and for real eagle through the govt you can get if yar recognized but problem is with that it seems like a forever wait lol

that is a good tip there. when my feathers get frayed a bit i try steaming a put of water and hover the feather over it. i heared you can also use an iron on it. but my luck with irons i would end up burning my hand again lmao
