I've never really paid attention to Texas drum groups. The groups that I did hear had a rugged sound but in a good way.

SMIL,

As far as I know, Bear Claw singers and AC Woodland are still producing good sounds in the Lone Star state.

The AC Woodland guys were originally AC Woodland, then the Johnsons sang with Otter Trail for a good while. AC Woodland has since reconstituted. I saw Bear Claw a month or so ago. Everyone's singing strong down this way.
