Backing for Crowns

Hello out there,
Can anyone tell me what to use in the backing of a crown? This is my first time making one, so I need some advice. So that the crown will be firm and hold well.

Hey!

Do you mean the backing for the bead work or where the crown closes in the back?

Hello Singing Otter,
Yes,the backing for the bead work, to make it stiff? I think I have heard some use plastic, but is there something else that I can use? I've still got a ways to go before I finish, but thought I would see what's out there. I see so many nice crowns out there and they seem to fit the dancer real well.

I use plastic. Some folks just use a couple of layers of fabric or the stiff beading felt. Sometimes you can go to the Dollar store and buy the thin plastic flexible cutting boards. They're good for lining bead work and for making stencils. (and they make decent cutting boards! )

Can anyone else add to this? What else do you guys use?
