is it one of those "cap and gown" hats?

i would use a edging "design" - 7 - 10 beads across. graduating colors (like rainbow colors or varying degrees of the same color) with maybe a feather design or something that you choose ... or even her name and the year in block letters ...

and i would start at the front center of the hat and go back towards to back of the hat .... and the same thing on the "other" side of the hat. that way your design will match or be "even" on both sides ...

Rainbow colors would be nice, or fire colors.. but would'nt the school colors make it look sharper? I really like this idea... have you seen it done before???

My momma beaded my cap when I graduated from Law School. She used varying shades of purple hex cuts (the color of the "legal" profession) to match the doctoral cape/hood thingy that I wore with the gown. We also attached a large plume, which looked really nice.

The Dean of my law school made a big deal of my "improvements" to the graduation regalia, but I didn't really care. It was MY graduation, and I wanted to show my pride!

I'll look for a pic of my daughter's cap when she graduated from Sherman Indian School in California. I only had overnight to bead it, so I did a zigzag edge and beaded the year on the "cap" part.

If I had more time, I would have beaded the whole edge.

Another thing that would be cool is what one of my adopted sisters did. She took a beaded wrapped side drop and hung it from the motarboard instead of a tassle. It was secured well and looked gorgeous for her grad portraits. I believe she wore the drop at graduation too. She just respectfully kept her distance from looky loo hands.

Here is a picture that someone posted a while ago on the graduation cap that they beaded for their sister. She posted it on powwows.com in the gallery under beadwork. Hope this helps you all out, good luck and would like to see a pict when you are done. Also if he/she's an honors grad, student council, ect. put ribbonwork on their honors drops if they get one. A friend of mine did that and it looked awsome.

LMAO (on the grubby hands)! My mom attached a side drop to my motarboard next to the tassel (if that makes any sense), using the center button on the cap to secure it. My plume was beaded to match the beadwork she did around the cap. It looked so awesome! Congrats to you and your daughter!

Post pics, we all want to see 'em!

PS: Deza is that you?? (~Cheyenne~); just checkin'. . .
