I shared someones bead work on my facebook and I was asked if it was lawful to sell. I'm assuming this person was asking about the bearclaw and/or the ivory. I told them I would find out 'cuz IDK. Help anyone???

In both the US and Canada there are laws that protect endangered species and as such, (depending upon the country and species) make it illegal to sell, trade or barter any parts from these animals.

First Nation persons in both countries also have a limited right to use animal parts from endangered species but they must be from a Federally recognized tribe or First Nation status holder in Canada.

Then there is a further law in the US that confines crafts and art that are labelled made by a Native person to being either a state or federally enrolled member of a tribe.

I suggest you look into the laws current where you are located and if you require any other assistance, perhaps call your game and wildlife folks.

So, are you two bringing a FB disagreement to this site?
