Question side seam leggings???????how to??

I've never made leggings before, and i do not know how. What I need to know is how to get the measurements, and draw out the pattern, and sew up a pair of, i guess you could say "woodland style" leggings, i am tsalagi, and am in need of leggings. I dont want fringe, i dont know how to explain it other than instead of fringe, im picturing like a flap on the side, the stuff you would cut the fringe from, but left solid. I know i might not be making much sence, i am not good with words. I will try to explain myself the best i can. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't the Tsalagi wear leggings that are like the other iroquoian nations? That solid side flap you are talking about.. I thought that was more a western plains kinda thing.....

Talking

He is right about not haveing fringe on Eastern Style leggings. But are we talking old style or modern for Powwow? All you have to do it get your measurment for the top of the leg around you want, the knee, and then ankle. Lay out your material folded in half where the fold is the inside of the leg area. Then lay your measurments down from top of leg to ankle. Draw a straight line from top to bottom or bottom to top.

Now..if you want them tight like in the old style 17th. to mid 18th. cent. where there is little to no flap on the side. Go ahead and start cutting. Oh!! I would recomend that you do this with scrap material on the first set.!!!!
If you want it looser..make your measurments two or three inches bigger.

If I knew what Eastern Style you were after...could help with pictures. But there are many styles from the ones that fit just above the knees...most prevelant...to the longer ones. Very tube fitting styles.
