you need to find a dressmaker and get her/him to make you a pattern for a dress, because there are no patterns. when you make your dress use heat & bond to make the diamonds 1st. use a ruler to make your diamonds a constant size. feel free to contact me for help the bee aka debbie

Email the MS Band of Choctaws I emailed them for a traditional shirt and I'm sure they could supply you with a pattern for a traditional dress. Good luck in your search.

Someone correct me if I am off the mark here but I thought I heard or read somewhere that the Mississippi Choctaw and the Oklahoma Choctaw dresses have slight differences between them, like in the number of ruffles or with the type of apron worn over the dress.

I have this link that is for the Oklahoma Choctaw dress (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

Choctaw Lace Necklace

The instructions are kind of vague, I think, but maybe of some help. This page also shows how to make the lace necklace. I'm Chickasaw, and there are some similiarities in the dresses and necklace, but they are definitely not identical.

I also have read that the Oklahoma Choctaw have 1 ruffle at the bottom of their dress, and the Mississippi Choctaw have 2.

Anyway, this web page I've posted has a lot of interesting information about the traditional dress and also has some names of people you can contact if you need help on regalia.

This website has a lot of good information. I should've thought of it but didn't. Thanks for bringing it up and showing people.
