I need to finish my turtle purse, but I keep stinking myself out of the back yard. (They won't let me drill inside the house or within 25ft ;) ) Dremels are pretty cool......unless you been drillin' for awhile. lol I've sacrificed cells on a hot bit.

tool of the gods no more

http://www.woodcarvingstore.com/Turb...rverSystem.asp

The Dremel cannot even compare with this tool..I got one of them, but i need to buy some more burs before I can do anything with it... but it's as smooth as using a pencil and you can just sit there for hours using it. No tork is why. Granted it costs a hell of a lot more than a dremel tool, but if you make a living off carving, it would more than pay for itself in the time and energy you spend.

actually this one in the link is better than the one I got..I got the first one.. this one has optional water mist (good for carving shells and abalone or other toxic materials) and is lube free..mine you have to spray a tiny shot of lube in it every 50, 000 miles or something like that LOL.

Heck Bear yes I do degrease them but I cut the ends off and then slice then lengthwise. Then I soak them in a pail of water, change that every couple days when I am home...That is only on weekends though. So when I get home Friday night it smells purdy bad...dam the maggots are just afull size bath on the surface..........yuck. This I rinse off and then scrub and resoak. Then after about another week I start using them.

Spot... check ebay and see if anyone is selling their old one.. Also you can just buy the tool, adapter and burs and instead of buying thier air compressor ..buy one from sears like I did LOL!

Tibeki.. save yourself some time and maggots and dip them in white gasoline and then rinse them good. My hubby and I used to clean skulls for sale...in fact the bottom part of my freezer is still full of heads.

Dang if I were squeamish y'all would be grossin me out...but since I am not....yum maggots....LOL!

Well, back to what is finished. My wife and I finished up her a new skirt and blouse today. The skirt is a Sauk-n-Fox style and the blouse is a nice fake silk print that matches the colors in the ribbon work rather nicely.

We are making her some Sauk-n-Fox mocs to go with it but the beadwork will take a while so when those are done we will post them, but for now she is going to use her boots with this set of clothes.

Keep the pics coming folks there has been some killer stuff posted so far.

I just finished a flat fan. This is my first attempt at working with florettes. The pic is in the gallery -- or will be when approved.

Thanks to all here who help me learn -- esp. PB49, StraightdancerInAz, PonehmaGirl, Blackbear, and all who have contributed to the fan and featherwork threads.

Much Thanks,
OLChemist

I jus finished a roach spreader & hair pin for a friend of mine. I used rawhide for the spreader, painted it up real nice to match his roach's colors and made a pin with feather drops to match that. he was impressed! Hopefully, I can get some pictures loaded today...

I just fininshed a pair of pauldrons (medieval shoulder armor) that I hand-shaped from 12oz. vegitan leather and sculpted to look like the scales off of a dragon's belly. they were commisioned by a friend of mine who is in the same combat association with me. As soon as I can get this frigging scanner to work, I'll see if I can post a picture of them here.

I also finished a brushed steel spiked collar and a chain mail top that I will be wearing to go see PM5K on the 6th.
