Toddler boy dance regalia

I'm starting to get ideas together for my son's first dance regalia. I've been kind of out of the loop the past few years, and I was wondering if there were any new trends that I may have missed in grass dance regalia. I have a color scheme in mind with five different colors in very soft, nearly pastel tones. I'm pretty excited to get started on this. He's turning three later this month and I hope to have it done within the next year or so. I'd really appreciate any ideas, tips, feedback, etc.

Thanks,
Terri

No real "NEW" trends. You see yarn, ribbons, cloth strips/rags, chainette - all the old stuff come around "new" again (like how bell bottoms became flares).

I think if it were my kid, I'd go with ribbons sewn directly to the pants and shirt - with the apron and drops sewn to the pants as well. A little applique harness would be pretty cool too.
