Definately side tabs and an apron! Breechcloths are ok I guess, but shorts and aprons are better :)

Most guys I know that still wear bandoliers (not many though) safety pin them to their shirts and/or breastplate ties. This would apply to the bone bandoliers or the old style otter bandoliers with mirrors too.

For the bandoleers, A little trick I learnt, and hvae used on one of my shirts soon to be all of them, is to use extra ribbon and velcro to make epalets. Most of the time, the scarf is covering up the ribbon, and if it does show, it matches the exposed ribbonwork.

As for the the first question, I've seen people go without sidetabs only with leggings on.

i would have to say go with the breech cloth and aprons. it makes for fuller looking clothes.

also, for the bandolier....go with the safety pins. they make it so it doesn't slide around and it's easy to imploment.
