Missouri River Tear Dress pattern?

Hey everyone, I know this isn't exactly fancy shawl related... but it was the closest forum I could find to ask in.

I am Cherokee, and just getting back with my tribe after I was separated at a young age. I need a tear dress and since I sew, I would like to make my own.

I read on another thread that a lot of you feel that Missouri River's jingle dress pattern works well. Has anyone ever used the Missouri River tear dress pattern? I want my dress to be as accurate as possible, since I will be dancing for the first time in over 13 years at my tribe's big annual powwow this November. I have a wonderful, wise mentor in the tribe who can also help me with the specifics.

If not that pattern, does anyone know of a good tear dress pattern?

Thank you all for reading and for all advice!

If you look at the bottom of the page, it shows related threads on the dress. I took a sneak peek at some of the people who have posted. Lot of credible ones.

Look down there.

Hi,
Probably would of been better to of started your thread in Cloth Dancing, since that is the category a Tear Dress would be in.
As for the pattern..........it works pretty good. But my advice is to cut down on the width of gathering in the bodice. Too many gathers make it too much bulk in that area. Other than that..........it's an okay pattern I guess. I wouldn't use to heavy of a fabric.........it gets pretty hot.
Good luck!

Thanks a lot, JD & Nancy... great advice. Sometimes it takes me a little while to find exactly what I'm looking for on here b/c there are so many forums and probably thousands of threads.
