Question Requesting Information

I recently attended my first powwow with my niece. She danced with the tiny tots in the fancy shawl dance. She wishes to further her knowledge of dancing but being that she is only 5, she wants her aunt to do it with her. Our heritage is with the Lakota Souix. I have found a wealth of information on this site so far.

I would like to ask for any advice anyone could give. How ornate should our shawls be? How should I learn and teach her what steps to perform? Any advice at all would be welcome.

Thank you in advance!!
