Unhappy

man i always feel bad hearing about this.

but the thing is this isnt the first time i have heard of something like this happening that involved a native.

i mean even just at my old high school i remember a time when this native kid made threats to shoot everyone up, but he had this other dude with him.

they just caught him before hand and said he wasnt allowed near the school. still didnt make anyone feel any safer.

as well as the news made it sound like this was a new thing for natives to be involved in the "goth culture"...again, we had plenty of those in our school as well.

i just hope everyone's family is doing ok.

and i dont really understand, did they arrest the chairmans son just because he emailed weiss?

I know that this whole event is tragic, even to happen to natives. But I have been reading alot about this, the boy was a loner and being critized every day by his classmates. There was an article saying that he just grew to hate his classmates that weren't "native," he thought that his classmates were just trying to be a part of the hip-hop culture and were letting their own culture go. This just isn't happening on just one reservation, it is happening on a lot of reservations.

Its one thing to be disappointed and hate your fellow "NDNs" but when you begin to impose your views on them for not being NDN enough for your liking, then there is something wrong with you. Me I'd like to have more of our people be proud of our way and all of our history. So many things have occurred over the last couple hundred years or so, that for many of our youth and other Aboriginal people, being proud of our way of life is not an option for them. That's okay for them but it makes me feel bad for them. Being a good ndn means accepting how your own relatives choose to live. That is sometimes really hard because they sometimes choose not to follow the First Nations path. If you live that way that is very commendable, don't try to force your beliefs on people. Many non-Natives have tried unsuccessfully impose their will on us as a collective. Many of our people fought in wars so that we could live free and express the way we choose to live. If many people want to follow another way then that should be left for them to do so. In time, they may see what it feels like to be a true NDN. They can turn and look how you have lived your life.
