'Alienation Of Affection' Can Be Costly For Spouses Who Stray

(Since this happens to be a trend in Native America right now, thought it would good to educate each other what happens when a spouse cheats. Yes, you can sue the other party in NC.)

A man who accused another man of stealing his wife and ruining his marriage may get paid for his pain.

A Robeson County jury awarded more than $500,000 to Michael Kinlaw for "alienation of affection."

Kinlaw said his wife, a nurse, cheated on him with a doctor with whom she worked. She had a child with the doctor and pretended the child was Kinlaw's.

Kinlaw has divorced her.

It does not pay to be a homewrecker in North Carolina.

In 1926, a jury in Macon County awarded $12,000 to a man whose wife cheated on him.

In 1969, a Rowan County jury awarded $30,000 to a woman whose husband had a lover.

Just a few years ago, a woman in Guilford County, whose husband had a lover, received a $2 million award.

LOL you know.. I kinda like that idea... but if i were married in NC, I'd be telling the hubby to make sure if he's gonna cheat , she's a rich one! What good is being awarded 2 million dollars if that person never even makes that much money in their lifetime?
