Governor apologizes for inappropriate remark

DENVER - A spokesperson for Gov. Bill Owens is apologizing for remarks the governor made during a conference on Indian gaming.

It happened on Tuesday at the Western Governors' Association Summit. The microphone at the podium wasn't working and the governor urged that it be fixed quickly and then remarked, "the natives are getting restless." Some attendees took offense to the comment. Friday, the governor's spokesperson said Owens realized it was inappropriate.

"It's something that was an inadvertent remark, he didn't really intend any sort of disrespect by it," said Dan Hopkins. "(Owens) is very respectful of the Indian nation and the people attending. (He) realized as soon as he had set it that it was something that was inappropriate and apologizes."

Hopkins also pointed out that no one made an issue about the remark during the two-day conference. Some people raised concerns afterwards.

One of the main topics discussed at the conference was recent efforts by some Native American tribes to make claims on land where they might build casinos off reservations.

What do you all think about this? I dont kno if you have heard but the Cheyenne and Arapaho's would like to build a casino near the Denver International Airport(DIA) and our governer is against it which i think is some more links cuz im not good at explaining thingz lol.....

I hope they get tho...if not in denver sumwhere in central city or blackhawk
