Grandmother pleads guilty to abusing two boys
Friday, March 25, 2005

A member of the Northern Ute Tribe of Utah faces life in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to abuse of her two young grandsons.

Charlissa Sireech, 45, admitted to seven felony counts of assault against Jose Rodriguez, 4, and his brother, 3-year-old Emilio Rodriguez. She beat Jose so badly that he ended up in a coma. He suffered brain injuries and can only get around in a wheelchair with assistance.

The boys and their sister, who was not abused, have since been sent back to their paternal grandparents in California.

dang.... it's a scary world. A grandparent's function is for loving and spoiling and telling you the history of your family.... not this.

Deliberately injuring someone so as to leave them in a
persistant vegetative state (or irreversible coma) is, to me,
a worse crime than killing them outright, and the fact that
the victim was a helpless small child makes the crime even
worse. Although I am not a great fan of the death penalty
(I would use it only for murder by someone already serving
a life sentence without parole for murder because there is
nothing more the legal system can do to them.), I think this
b*tch should be locked up and the key thrown away, or still
better, melted down. She should never again see the light
of day. And let the only decorations in her cell be pictures
of the children she abused.

I cannot understand why a granmother would do something like this, a parent for that matter.... Ala and BB youre both absolutely right.. damn what a horrible world we live in.. im sure creator must cry everyday as he watches us suffer at our own hands..and treat our kin with such hatred...I hope granny does get life... what she did was dispicable.. those poor boys; she took away thier futures. she got to live most of her life .. theres NO excuse for this..
