Wink 700 dollars at least they used a sarced number

I went to Haskell 90-92, and My tribe helped out but being a alumni, I think that the issue is that there are alot of alumnis that are very successful because of the education Haskell has for people, the prez was my biology prof. And the admin. needs to get there fundraising a top priority, now 2004 I know its a George Bush America, but there is hela cali tribes(River Rock just one)that have casino's, hello a closed mouth dont neverget fed, but I loved haskell the women were so hot.

HI, My husband and I both attended and graduated from Haskell in the late 80's, I'm both for and against what you have to complain about. Yes the place is outdated. We stayed in the nicest, newest dorm at that time(Blalock). The food we served was pretty good; salad everyday at lunch. Most importantly, they did not have a fee back then, you were expected to work a minimum 40 hrs per semester on campus, in order to take advantage of Haskell's education. What has happened? Did they get rid of the 40 hrs of work requirement? That's too bad that you feel the way you do; but as someone pointed out earlier, you can get an education elsewhere. I ended up going there as a result of being turned down by a prestigious college in Oregon. I think if I had planned a little better, I could've gone to a much better college than Haskell. Then again, I never would have met my true love, now would I??? Hang in there, Haskell will only be a small part of your life when you look back at it?

Big Bad Update

Well people it was a long hard battle. I wish that I could say there was success all around but there was not. The Board of Regents decided to double the current fee which will make it $210.00 starting next fall. Each year they will review the budget and increase or decrease the fee accordingly. The students that presented for the board and Dr. Swisher were willing to take it upon themselves to find all of the information that was available to them. I myself spent plenty of time gathering information, I used what I had been given and spent time getting as much as I could. The other students that helped present were great, we presented solutions that the students could live with. But the board turned a deaf ear. During the forum that was open to students none of the questions that were asked were answered, even though the board said it would not come to a decision before the those questions were answered. There were board members that were asleep at some of the meetings and others that talked about the student alcohol rate on campus, implying that if we didn't spend our money on booze we wouldn't be broke. Oh yeah, the new fiscal year started on OCT. 1 which means $9 million dollars more for haskell and starting next weekend Curtis hall will no longer be serving food on the weekends. Some students said we did a good job because without us the fee could have been more, but I think that the board of regents are out of touch with the students. Out of everyone that spoke there were only 3 people that were for the fee increase. I don't feel that this is over, Caleena Hernasy did a fantastic job representing the student voice. The board actually had a meeting where she was suppossed to be included and they did not inform her of the meeting. They went ahead and decided on the issue without her input, and when she brought the point up at the last meeting the board said nothing. I don't know what is going to happen but I do hope that this will teach our students to become more aware of what is going on, this issue is HUGE, it's not just the school but also an issue with the federal government. The board sure had time to find $12 million dollars to fund a new science building that will teach non native students on campus but they won't find the time to raise money for the rest of the campus? Anyway I can't give up. There will be another meeting in May and hopefully we can have more people on board next time around.
