Looking for Indian home for extreme makeover

ABC television is looking to remodel the home of a Native American family for its popular show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

If you or someone you know has a home on a reservation that is between 1,200 to 2,000 sq. ft. and with a decent-sized yard, contact the casting department by July 14, 2004!

NAIHC has held discussions with the casting crew of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and urges tribal members to apply. They’re looking for a compelling and unique story about your family and your housing situation. Please include a picture of your family and your home to go along with the narrative. The show would like to do an episode—either this season or in the future—about a Native American family and their home, preferably in the Southern California, New Mexico, Nevada or Arizona area, although you may submit applications from outside of that region, as they plan to expand their locations later.

You can find an application at www.abc.go.com or request one by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. You may also contact Lock & Key Productions, c/o Casting, P.O. Box 38670, Los Angeles, CA 90038.

Catch reruns of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” Sunday nights at 8 p.m. EST. (Check your local listings!)

Hurry!
Deadline July 14, 2004!

Contact NAIHC’s Communications Department for more information at: 202-789-1754.

1200 sq ft and a yard? How about 850 sq ft,
no grass and a dog tied to the porch? Forget that last
idea--we don't tie no dogs to anything...let's make that
with a dog UNDER the porch! with puppies! And 3 rez
cars parked on the side--none of which run!:50:

what do you think they would do to a rez home? Tiki room, las vegas, tex mex or do you think they would go with all the native stereotypes? LOL!!

Let's see... in each window we would have to have one of those lovely yarn dream catchers; a bear rug in front of the fireplace--oops, make that gas wall heater. Over the mantle--oops, make that on the wall next to the wall heater, a big picture of an eagle flying. On the coat tree in the entry would hang a quiver complete with bow and arrows; and don't forget the calabash... Pendleton blankets are a must for each bed and pendleton pillows should be placed strategically on the brown naughahyde sofa in the living room. Serving as a 'wet bar' in the living room should be a mini fridge for keeping the beer cold. J. Gorman prints should adorn the wall of the bathroom and a cactus should sit on the back of the toilet along with a Sears Roebuck catalog for wiping... In the kitchen strings of chili peppers should be hanging on the walls and a lovely ceramic cannister marked 'bear grease' should be placed next to the wood stove along with a cast iron skillet. A twelve point antler chandelier hanging above the vinyl dinette is a must.

Have I forgotten anything? Oh, don't forget the ashtrays...

I was thinking along these lines.....

Like hair on deer skins pinned to the wall ". On the wall is not just a pic of an eagle but a sexy indian maiden in a snow white buckskin dress showing cleavage and small animals kissing her toes. The curtains are done in their favorite show colors of pumpkin, sunset reds and yellow in a southwestern print with yes.. the yarn dreamcatcher hangin it. The couch is painted to look like pony skin with faux buffalo hide throw pillows.
There is a wolf figurine on the cedar coffee table with pictographs wood burned into the sides and on top. It's sitting on a spotted rabbit skin to match the pony skin looking couch. The fireplace is the stove pipe kind with more faux buffalo hide throw pillows down in front for a warm sitting area with your cocktail buddies on those hot reservation nights... oh heck, throw in some faux buffalo hides for curling up with your snag on those nights the cocktail buddies don't come by.
they've removed the carpet and painted the floorboards to look like a dirt floor and toss a tumbleweed in the corner with a multi tiered table holding several cactus plants and lizard figurines that hold incense sticks (sage scented of course). But of course yes.. that twelve point antler chandelier is A MUST!
