Pow wow poster

Wonder if anyone has an opinion re: this year's Gathering of Nations poster. As an NAC member I took offense at the poster which depicted out sacred medicine on the poster. As far as the waterbird designs and fan designs, it wasn't as bad as seeing the sacred medicine plants on the garish, gaudy way in which it was displayed. Bad enough, we have to bend to the way someone is usurping our culture to make money and some of you are compromising your beautiful way of life to go down there and help this individual (non-indian). Come on you guys, have some pride, at least let the guy know that you will not stand for using religious objects to further making money off from us as Indians and our way of worship.

we could go on and on !!! but the true is we all go out to contest powwows and use eagle feathers to make money!why hasn't any of the elders had a problem with that!?? we where our traditional clothing to contest powwows! i guess if i was more educated in the medicine socitey that i too would have a problem! don't get me wrong i like going to contest powwows! and i see alot of people trading/selling feathers for money!! if we say the eagle is so sacred!!! then why do we do these kinds of thing to it???. just a few things to think about !...just my 2 centz

Well, this goes to show how observant I am. I didn't even notice the background art. I just looked at the information that was on the poster. I mentioned this to my sis and she said "What does using the Waterbird and Peyote design have to do with a powwow?" Guess this issue will have to be taken up with THE MAN (the non-Indian).
