Reading the other thread on adoption made me think of my uncle who adopted my cousin when she was 6. today she is 15 but is starting to ask about her birth family. My uncle worries that when or if she decides to go seek her birth family out will she want to "side" (so to speak)-with her birth tribes.
She always knew she was adopted of course but there is always that fear in my uncles heart that he will loose "his" only daughter.are there any other parents that adopted there children and felt this fear?

Adoption
I'm sure that all adopting parents no matter what if any tribal affiliation they have worry. They worry about whether or not they will be replaced or anything else. My dad's mom was Native American and none of us kids knew about it until this past year, so trying to track down what tribe she is from and her family has been on my mind now since then. I think it is only natural for people to want to find out about the blood in their veins, but your uncle should be reassured in knowing that people don't forget about the love and acceptance that the family who raises them provides. I don't think he will ever lose his only daughter. Being a parent is so wonderful yet it is so painful, you never know what is going to happen. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your uncle.
