2012 Otoe Encampment

Another year has passed to one of my favorite powwows to attend. We have camped at this one for several years in a row now and I must say this year it was a good one.

Yes its hot! This year lived up to that with temps topping 108 in the afternoon.

But... the heat faded away when the drum started on Sunday afternoon. Joe Fish and boys were sounding good, the arena was filled with men and the songs kept rolling one after another. You could feel the excitement after each song building and building even the singers felt it as push after push on a song flowed out from them, the lady singers standing up and singing out loudddd!
Whew, no-one wanted it to end but finally it did...
As i shook hands around the arena, it seemed everybody I greeted had grins ear to ear because we all felt that spirit today it was stronggg.

I have reflected on what I witnessed that day and its taken me several weeks to finally post this, It was fitting that I was a part of it in that place that is called Otoe Encampment.
