Question firefighters and Gourd Dancing?

Im just woundering. I know the Gourd Dance is for honoring militay, warriors, and Vets for the most part. I am not an ex-military but a disabled firefighter and medic. I would most desire to be able to gourd dance with our warriors. Would it be appropriate for me to dance with them. I dont want to go out and dance and offend someone before knowing for sure.

One of the members of the Gourd Dance Society may answer your question here, maybe.

If you are in good standing with a known member, take tobacco respectfully and ask in person.

daniel,

You would be welcome to gourd dance. This dance is not just for military, warriors and veterans. Perhaps you can request advice on entering the arena from a long time gourd dancer in your area?

What Whome Said

Take the advice and learn from someone who knows what he's talking about. There is so much misinformation spread about this dance, it's really amazing....

Gourd dance is a Kiowa man dance, simply put, its not a military, veterans dance, but we do honor those who served in the Armed Forces. Our Warriors dance is the Black Leggings Society which is still in existence today. It seems your very interested in our dance but I need to remind you and everyone else. Get the proper permission from those leaders of the Kiowa Gourd Clan, and that's if your Native American by the way.
