Scott, good advice. It is confusing for the new folks out there. Thanks for posting these topics.

Even Jar heads and Squidas have good ideas occassionally.

In Uniform while active

I dance in my Uniform with Veterans since I am active. I have been in the Navy for twelve years-still active.....I travel to Powwows within my 350 miles radius with out dropping a leave chit.....I stay from the beginning to the end.....cuz I feel at home while I am Gourd Dancing with my people. Staying at the Barracks or on the ship is stressful....and Military Life is very VERY stressful but Gourd Dancing keep me focus....I do not drink....not for a couple of years now......I have been in San Diego, Wisconsin, and Mississippi....once I am at a Powwow.....I am not alone.......I wanna share the sounds of the Drum....and the songs of the powerful stories.....I take Gourd Dancing Seriuosly....after I return to work....I am at peace.....and looking forward to that next powwow where ever I may be........

I've seen groups that do both the color guard and gourd dance society functions dress in fatigues during powwow's gourd dance afternoon festivities.

Things get so diluted and misunderstood, I just stop, pause and reflect that it's good to know what's going on.
