Creature Comforts

Im sitting here thinking about things that make me feel so good.

Like yesterday I washed all the bedding and got into a nice warm soft clean bed smelling of Snuggle while the air around the bed was nice and cold.

Today I'm smiling as I wiggle my toes inside some brand new clean, white, fluffy socks! New socks are the best! LOL!!

What are some of the nice comfy things that make you just feel good?

Cotton boy panties. My daughter loves them too. Birkenstock sandles would be a close second.

A night where the temp is between 35 and 45 degrees, bedroom window WIDE open and 2 feet of quilts on top of flannel sheets to sleep between.

Hot coffee ready as soon as I roll into the kitchen in the o'dark hundred of a morning(coffee pots with timers are an awesome invention).

The smell of a turkey roasting all day long.

Making turkey soup the next day out of all the leftovers.... steaming up the windows and getting a cup of it "to try" at various stages.

Sheets that have been dried on a clothesline.... that sunshine smell that you can't find in any laundry cleaning product.

One Hot Mama 10-13-2006 11:09 PM

Hot chocolate, a good book, and my fuzzy blanket on a cold, rainy day.

Waking up to the warmth of my old man next to me.

The sounds of happy children.

Sitting around the table with the girls, joking, laughing, and talking about this, that, and everything else.

The smell of my horse.

The smell of woodsmoke.

The smell of the earth after a rain, or that cold snap when its going to snow.

Banana pudding.

Holding babies.

Watching the new calves trying our their legs.

The sound of rain against the window at night.

A cool breeze on a hot day.

The smell of good food cooking and coffee brewing.

Watching the hawks soar way up high.

The songs of birds.

The purring of a cat.

The soft thump of a dog's wagging tail on the floor whenever you look over at him/her.

Watching the sunrise and sunset.

The sparkle of sunlight dancing on water.

Laying on my back in the grass and watching the clouds.

Listening to the leaves and wind and grass all whispering to each other.

Thunderstorms.

Sewing.

Getting a job done.

Hmm, life is full of all sorts of comforting things. Kinda makes me wonder how it is so many folks are miserable.

Uh huh like:
Up above my head I hear music in the air - I hear music!
That makes me know there's (somebody) a party somewhere

Satisfaction came in a chain reaction - Do you hear?
I couldn't get enough, so I had to self destruct,
The heat was on, rising to the top
Everybody's goin' strong
That is when my spark got hot
I heard somebody say

Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! (Aah yeah!)
Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down
Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno, yeah!
Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down
Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno! (Aah yeah!)
Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down
Burn baby burn! - Disco inferno, yeah!
Burn baby burn! - Burn that mama down
Burnin’!

And THAT JG is why you rock.

I'm still a little bit perturbed about Tom Cruise in Risky Business bobbing around the house to Old Time Rock 'n Roll... especially the sock slide on the wood floor.

Seger's tune came out in '78, the movie in '83 and I'm still wondering who the Peeping Tom (pun intended) was during that 5 years.... cuz that was the sort of Home Alone thing I indulged in!

Just take those old records off the shelf
I sit and listen to them by myself
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Don't try to take me to a disco
You'll never even get me out on the floor
In ten minutes I'll be late for the door
I like that old time rock 'n' roll

Still like that old time rock 'n' roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock 'n' roll

Won't go to hear them play a tango
I'd rather hear some blues or funky old soul
There's only one sure way to get me to go
Start playing old time rock 'n' roll

Singing Otter 10-15-2006 01:50 AM

crazywolf 10-15-2006 11:32 PM

Had some steak today, mmm, only get red meat once every two months or so.

Fish, god I love that too.

The perfect ruffle song.

An empty stretch of highway with the right song on the cd player, preferrably The Who, Eminance Front.

Blackbear 10-16-2006 04:42 AM

Otter.. yes fresh blankies from the dryer, but how bout this.. fresh warm towel out of the dryer after a nice steamy shower??... eh? It sooooo rocks!

wyo_rose 10-16-2006 10:50 AM

Hot water running over my hands in the morning.

A nice shower.

Gotta agree with fuzzy socks, followed by my orthopedic sole Addidas sandals.

Hot soup and/or tea on a cold day.

Warming up by a fire.

A fluffy pillow.

Snuggling up with my honey.

Seeing my grandkids smile.

Annie Fawn 10-21-2006 10:46 PM

Homemade vegetable soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, sweet tea, a good book, hot chocolate on a cold morning, warm socks right out of the dryer on a cold morning, flannel sheets.

Ndnsoldierboy 10-22-2006 03:28 AM

MRE's that aren't rotten
U.S. ammo and not that crappy british ammo that never seems to fire correctly in our weapons
no rain
dry boots
commo gear that works correctly
Humvees that don't break down
no snow
no bugs
