Gas Prices in 2005

The TV news here keeps reporting that prices will continue to rise through the summer. With powwow season about ready to get into full swing, I was just wondering how gas prices were around the country.

A week ago it was $1.82 a gallon in Dewey, OK (Northeastern OKlahoma). This week it's already up to $1.99 a gallon. Just across the Kansas line where I live it's $2.09 / gallon.

It's averaging 5-10 cents a week increase around here. Some places are already at $1.92 a gallon for regular gas.

In town we're about $2.05. Out here on the rez I think we're still just below $2.00. It's gonna suck though, if it gets too high in the summer. I just gots to be driving all over the place!!

Gas will probably hit the $2.50 range this summer?

As for Canada that was high enough last year!!!

Yeah, it's gettin pretty rediculous- in one day it went from $2.04 for reg unleaded to $2.11. Then you got these ppl pullin up to the pump fillin up their tank and takin off. I seen a story on the news last night about these drive offs and how more and more ppl are doing it. I work for this company- and they could solve the problem by having ppl pay first- but my DM says that it will make the customer feel like they're paying more. But our company is losing around $600,000 a year. I t is essentially our customers ripping us off- not all of course, and the ones I speak to say they wouldn't mind paying first. And they talk about imposing stiffer penalties for these thiefs- but that's if you can catch their plate #. As long as I've been there only one guy was caught- for $15 in gas- he went to jail, paid a fine and a $85 tow truck fee cuz they took his car too when they caught him. And to think he probably would have gotten away too if I hadn't went out to smoke a cigarette. But I guess the company doesn't mind losing 600 G's - i guess it's jus pocket change to the billionaire who owns the company- so if any body needs any gas Stop at any Stewart's shop in N.Y. ( if you're in the area) fill up and jus hop in your vehicle and go. Sure it'll drive the ppl who work there insane and the manager might try to chase you down the street- but odds are you'll get away scott-free. Unless I'm outside smokin' a bone! LOL

So, How high have prices gotten where everyone's at?
Within the hundred mile radius that I typically drive we are seeing anywhere from $2.19 to $2.35 per gallon.
My husband just got back from Az and around Flagstaff/Williams he sadi it was anywhere between $2.75 to $3.00+

Starting to really limit how much driving we can do for fun... all our gas money is going to making it to therapy and Drs appts.

On 20/20 last night they were dispelling myths. They asked if it were true or false that premium gas was better for your car. It was false. They said that it WAS better for wuch older cars and high reving cars like Mercedes and Fararis (sp) But if you can afford those kind of cars you can afford the gas for them, right? Anyway they said that the gas for cars that are "95" and up, it doesnt make a bit of difference. They also said that gas from a "Brand" name station such as Shell or Exxon is NO better than gas from your local owned "off brand" name gas stations. That it all comes from the same refineries. So save some money by going to lower priced stations and you dont have to buy the more expensive Premium gas. Thought it was interesting.

That does it no more preimun for the van! Thanks PW! Gas around here is around 2.09 a gallon for regular. In Atlanta it's higher I'm told. I do know the futher you get from Atlanta the more the prices seem to drop. My sis lives 1 county over and her gas is around 10 cents cheaper per gallon.
