Hear Stories on Winter Ceremonies from a Hataałii. How many different Winter Ceremonies do we have? Why are they held only during the Winter?

12:00pm Ernest Harry Begay, “Diné Warriorship”

Stories about the Traditional Diné Warrior and their roles in society. How do these stories relate to the Modern Day Warriors? What is a Diné Warrior?

2:45 pm John E. Salibye, “Hooghan Baahane’”

Stories about the Hogan and the home setting, the teachings from within the home. Male and female teachings about the homestead.

A quick reminder that Haigo Hane' (Diné Winter Stories 2006) is this Saturday. All should finish up around 5p, leaving enough time afterwards to run over to Gilbert, get something to eat, and catch Grand Entry!

9:00am Johnson Dennison – “Winter Ceremonies”
Mr. Dennison is a Medicine Man specializing in the Navajo Wind Way, Protection Prayer, and Purification Ceremony for the past 31 years. He is a Navajo Storyteller in Culture and History (Long Walk). He is the current Coordinator of the Office of Native Medicine at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility.

11:30am Break

12:00pm Ernest Harry Begay – “Diné Warriorship”
Mr. Begay is a Diné Culture consultant specializing in Early Childhood Development. His presentations include; Navajo Culture, Navajo History, Navajo Government, Diné Parenting, and Diné Language.

2:30pm Break

2:45pm John Salabye – “Hooghan baa Hane’”
Mr. Salabye is a Medicine Man of the Blessing Way Ceremony. He is also a Diné Culture consultant.
